Control Systems Programmer

Duties and Responsibilities:

As a member of our growing team, you will design and develop various types of automated solutions. Duties involve contributing to general machine concepts, design of control software, integration / control of electrical and mechanical systems, and equipment installation at customer facilities. Programming and integration opportunities involve PLC’s, PC’s, robotics, motion controllers, vision systems, laser and other specialized controllers.

  • Design and develop control programs (PLC / Robot / PC based / HMI) specific to project requirements based on standard SIC Automation Templates.
  • Implement control programs at SIC Automation, debug and refine to ensure all required operational control.
  • Work with fellow control system team members to continually improve programming standards and expand program block library.
  • Travel required for commissioning and startup of machines / integrated systems at customer facilities.
  • Troubleshooting and service of new and in process equipment as required.
  • Meet the required timeline & customer requirements (Overtime as required).
  • Provide up to date documentation for each project.
  • Technical writing of control system / equipment function and operation.
  • Provide project specific customer with training (machine operation, programming concepts and structure).
  • To conduct one’s self to high standards and in compliance with the SIC Automation employee handbook.
  • Adhere to all health and safety rules and procedures.

Education:

  • A post-secondary engineering degree, diploma or equivalent, in mechanical, electrical, systems or computer engineering.

Experience:

  • Strong programming, mechanical and electrical problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Understanding of robotics, control systems and machine operation with hands-on experience.
  • A self-starter with the ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
